Gas break forces evacuations
 

Fire trucks stand by as a PNM crew works on the broken line
Forty homes in southwest Albuquerque were evacuated beginning shortly before noon Thursday because of a gas leak.

An Albuquerque Fire Department spokeswoman says 20 people were affected.

She said that a construction crew in the area hit and broke a six-inch natural gas line. .

Evacuees were asked to go to Legacy Church at Central and Coors while PNM made repairs to the broken line.

All of the evacuees were allowed back in their homes by about 1:30.
