Schools in Four Corners prepare to bring students back to the classroom

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The Central Consolidated School District in Shiprock plans to bring all students back on March 22.

"We figured that would give us some time to do any last-minute things that we have to do for the district, and we’ve been getting a lot of feedback from our communities that want their kids back, and we were ready, so we just decided to go forward and actually based on PED guidance and what their expectations are we could’ve started this week, but we thought it was way too soon," said CCSD Superintendent Daniel Benavidez.

Students will be in school five days of the week.

However, parents can choose to keep their children in a virtual learning setting.

Aztec schools will fully reopen March 29. Fridays will be virtual learning for everyone.

"The biggest thing about Fridays– it’s still a learning day. It’s virtual learning. It’s also an opportunity to bring in students maybe onto the campus who need more individual attention that are at risk or have become at risk for whatever reason, so we can try to get them caught up as much as possible, so we can get credits earned like we need to and deal specifically with those students," said Kirk Carpenter, superintendent of Aztec Schools.

Students who attend Farmington Municipal Schools will return March 30.

"The model that we will continue to be remote on Mondays but Tuesday through Friday, we’re inviting all of Farmington Municipal students back to school," said Nicole Lambson, executive director of curriculum for Farmington schools.
