ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque police arrested a suspect following a deadly crash in northwest Albuquerque Thursday night.
APD charged 20-year-old Jesus Ramirez Olivas with homicide by vehicle.
Police said the crash happened around 10 p.m. at Coors and Hanover.
Officials said one driver was traveling northbound on Coors, making a left turn to westbound Glenrio. Another vehicle was heading southbound on Coors and collided with the victim’s vehicle. The victim received unsurvivable injuries and succumbed to them on scene.
According to APD, speed does appear to be a factor in the crash for the vehicle that was traveling southbound. Police said they are booking Jesus Alonso Ramirez Olivas for vehicular homicide.
In 2020, Olivas was accused of driving without a license. In July, he was accused of driving recklessly and fleeing from officers after he was clocked going 100 mph in a 65 mph zone.
Olivias is reportedly still in the hospital and will be booked into jail once he’s released.
