Santa Fe Starbucks becomes second in NM to file a petition to unionize

SANTA FE — For the second time in New Mexico, workers at a Starbucks are hoping to form a union.
Partners of the Starbucks store at Saint Michael’s Drive and Calle Lorca in Santa Fe filed a letter stating, in part, “While we are not ungrateful for the benefits Starbucks offers, we believe that the company as a whole can do better.”
This comes just over a month after a Starbucks store in Albuquerque filed a petition to unionize. Starbucks has tried to pause that union election and hundreds of others across the country.
Starbucks alleges Federal Labor Board workers acted inappropriately during a recent union election in Kansas City. The company also believes similar misconduct happened during other votes.
‘Starbucks Workers United’ manages the upcoming election in Albuquerque and one of their representatives told KOB 4 that the company’s claims are false and the planned elections will move forward.
