ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The first of several road closures in and around downtown Albuquerque began Tuesday morning.
The first road closure began Tuesday morning on southbound Broadway between Mountain Road and Lomas. Southbound Broadway will be closed for 4-6 weeks with one lane of traffic open for northbound Broadway traffic only.
The closure is to connect the U.S. Postal Service on Broadway to the new storm drainage system. Regular work will take place Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and access to all businesses will be maintained. A detour map is at the bottom of this page.
Beginning 8 p.m. Tuesday, northbound I-25 traffic will be reduced to one lane near the Gibson, Avenida Cesar Chavez and Lead on-ramps. All three on-ramps will be closed at that time with detours to the MLK on-ramp in place. Traffic will go back to two lanes for 21 days, starting September 7 at 5 a.m., but the Lead on-ramp will remain closed during that time.
Northbound traffic can access MLK by exiting at the Lead/Coal off-ramp and traveling north on Oak Street to MLK. Southbound I-25 traffic can still access MLK normally.
