FARMINGTON, N.M.—The sound of wailing sirens took on a different meaning Thursday as law enforcement officers and first responders led a funeral procession through Bloomfield, Aztec and northern Colorado to lay a San Juan County Sheriff’s deputy to rest.
Members of the community were seen along the procession route. Some even had hats on their chest to pay their respects
“Boy, what an emotional experience. It seems like hundreds of police cars from all over the Four Corners area honoring the deceased law-enforcement officer. I didn’t know a whole lot about it, but boy it’s an emotional moment seeing the support of the community,” said Dan Ford, a community member.
The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office has not released any information about the fallen deputy, or how they passed. They’re continuing to ask the community to be patient and understanding, and respect the privacy of the deputy’s family.
