ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The Los Lunas girls basketball team is beginning a new chapter.

The three-time defending state champions are moving from 4A to 5A.

"We kind of want to show that Los Lunas can hang with the big dogs now, so I think we’re excited and ready to play," said Natalie Jojola.

Natalie Jojola is among the six seniors on the team.

Coach Marty Zeller said he has never coached a team with so many seniors who have so much experience.

"Having that hunger from the seniors, it’s gonna be nice, you know? The expectations from the seniors, what they expect, what they expect from their own teammates," he said.

After all the uncertainties of the last year, the tigers are happy to be running up and down the court, ready to take on new challenges.

"The fact that it’s going to be over in the snap of a finger, I mean, you just got to get them ready, and I think the same philosophy for every year that we approach it," Zeller said.
