ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque police arrested suspect David Padilla Sunday after a fatal shootout left one dead in northeast Albuquerque.
Just before midnight Saturday, police responded to a shots fired call near Wyoming and Paseo del Norte.
Upon arrival, officials said officers found one person, later identified as Devlin Rubi, dead on scene.
A few hours later, police identified and arrested Padilla.
According to APD, Padilla and Rubi had a confrontation outside of the Rubi’s house. There was a shootout, and they say Padilla took Rubi’s gun and shot Rubi several times. He’s been charged with an open count of murder.
Court records also show that Padilla had just been released from prison for an armed robbery conviction in 2016.
