SANTA FE, N.M. — People from all over the world gathered in the Capitol Rotunda Wednesday to pay their respects to former Gov. Bill Richardson.
Richardson died in his sleep just over a week ago at his summer home in Massachusetts. He was 75.
On Wednesday, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., hundreds came to the Capitol – leaving flowers at Richardson’s casket, or thank you letters for the former governor.
This is just the first of three events happening to honor Richardson’s life and legacy.
A funeral mass will take place Thursday, Sept.14, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
A reception will follow at 1 p.m. at the State Capitol Rotunda, hosted by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. Both events are open to the public.
