BCSO gun violence prevention initiative nets 13 arrests

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A new initiative to curb gun violence has already resulted in 13 arrests and positive strides, Bernalillo County deputies say.
Over the last week, BCSO has collaborated with the U.S. Marshals Office and the DEA on the “Forefront Against Gun Violence” initiative. So far, the initiative has resulted in:
- 13 arrests
- 10 firearms located
- 8 stolen vehicles recovered
BCSO officials say each person arrested had a direct connection to a gun-related offense or warrants related to firearm incidents.
The sheriff’s office also claims each firearm was involved in a crime. Meanwhile, the stolen vehicle operation was aimed at targeting a “rampant issue” that is, at times, tied to gun violence.
“These results send a clear message: While debates and discussions swirl around policies and orders, it’s on-the-ground actions, real collaboration and a commitment to safety that brings tangible change,” BCSO stated Tuesday.
