Local horse trainer plans birthday bash for kids in homeless shelter
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Every kid deserves to be celebrated but not everyone has the opportunity or money to throw a big birthday party.
For around 60 children who need a little joy in their lives, what better way to bring them that than to give them a day with the most magical of all creatures?
It’s a celebrity guest Mariah Wilson is planning to bring to a birthday bash for those children staying at Joy Junction’s homeless shelter.
Wilson is with Platinum Performance Horses. They specialize in riding lessons and horse training and are located just down the street from the shelter.
“We don’t always think about it because we don’t see it in our daily lives. But not one kid should have to go without a birthday party,” she said.
Over the years, Wilson said she has seen the therapeutic healing and happiness horses bring to her kids and her clients.
“We got to thinking that it would be really cool if we could share all these things that we get to enjoy, like our horses, with these kids that might not be able to have access to those things,” she said.
Wilson is planning to bring unicorns, miniature horses and everything else. They want to create an unforgettable party experience that kids won’t ever forget.
If you want to pitch in, Wilson is looking for hygiene products and winter clothes for kids. They also need some pizza and cupcakes.
