APD investigates deadly shooting near Uptown

Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left one person dead Tuesday morning near Uptown Albuquerque.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left one person dead Tuesday morning in northeast Albuquerque.

The shooting happened just before 10 a.m. Tuesday. Officers responded to Pennsylvania Street and Mountain Road where they found one person shot. Paramedics pronounced that person dead at the scene.

A man who works nearby spoke to KOB 4. He said he heard the gunshots and initially thought it was noise from the nearby auto body shop.

Then, once he realized what happened, he said it was scary.

“Definitely not something I ever thought I would experience. It creeps on you, you never see it coming I guess. When it happens, you can watch it in movies and you can hear it in music but when it happens to you, it’s a whole different story. It’s not a game for sure, not a game, nothing to be played with,” he said.

Police haven’t named the victim. They also haven’t said if there are any suspects at this point.
