Fallen APD officer laid to rest after fatal hit-and-run crash
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Loved ones of the Albuquerque police officer killed in an Aug. 14 hit-and-run crash paid their final respects to her Monday.
Funeral services for Officer Bianca Quintana took place Monday at Legacy Church, (7201 Central Ave. N.W.) in Albuquerque after a procession from Los Lunas. Loved ones, colleagues and community members attended and honored her life.
“She made everything look so easy, because she did it all. She’s a provider, a protector, but above anything, she was an outstanding mother. If you ever made her choose between sleep or showing up, you know, she was going to make every moment count, even if it was just 30 minutes,” said Maria Isabel Dominguez, Bianca’s sister.
Quintana leaves behind her husband and two young boys, ages 5 and 12. If you want to help them during this difficult time, they have set up a GoFundMe account.
“She was beaming because somebody called her, and she was able to help get that person, or at least get them on the road to perhaps a path of recovery. That’s who Bianca was, and that’s why I fell in love with her,” said David Quintana, Bianca’s husband.
According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, a newer Volkswagen hit and killed Quintana while she was walking near Coors and Chapulin. The car didn’t stay at the scene.
BCSO is still looking for a suspect as the investigation is ongoing. They are asking anyone in the area with video footage from Coors Boulevard, south of Rio Bravo, to review their surveillance systems and report any findings that may aid in the investigation.
“We all want justice for Officer Quintana, we all want answers, and we’ll continue to remember her in spirit,” said APD Chief Harold Medina. “I think Bianca would want us all to remember that we have to be there for each other. We have to support each other.”
BCSO Sheriff John Allen sent the following statement to KOB 4:
“Our Traffic Unit has been diligently investigating the fatal hit-and-run crash that tragically claimed the life of Bianca Quintana on the night of August 14th. Despite extensive efforts, we continue to seek the community’s assistance in locating the vehicle involved.
Investigators have determined that a Volkswagen, model years 2016 to 2019, was involved in this incident. We urge anyone who may have seen anything or has any information related to this vehicle to come forward.
Crime Stoppers has generously offered a $13,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in this case. All tips received will be directly forwarded to our Traffic Unit for thorough follow-up.
