Santa Fe Police arrest suspect for alleged bomb threats
SANTA FE, N.M. — Police arrested a suspect accused of making bomb threats on a church and a hospital Tuesday night in Santa Fe.
Santa Fe Police arrested 32-year-old Manuel Chavez. Chavez is accused of making threats to Christus St. Vincent Hospital and San Miguel Church.
According to police, officers tracked Chavez down to an apartment complex on Calle Lorca but couldn’t figure out which unit he was in. Police got on the phone with Chavez, who allegedly made “incoherent statements” and refused to leave his apartment before hanging up.
Officers tracked down his exact apartment. After several minutes of talking, Chavez left his apartment and, after a brief struggle, was taken into custody.
According to police, Chavez denied having any explosive devices or any materials. Officers confirmed this when Chavez let them search him. They also didn’t find any suspicious packages or materials.
Paramedics took Chavez to Christus St. Vincent Hospital. Doctors medically cleared him to be booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
Chavez faces two counts of bomb scares and unlawful shooting threats and three counts of resisting arrest.
