New Mexico’s King of Valentine’s Day shows off 2025 project

Lonnie is getting creative again in how he is showing his love for his wife with gifting her a key to the village of Loving, naming a road after her and honoring other couples.

LOVING, N.M. — Love is something Lonnie Anderson knows very well – so much so that, as you may know, he is dubbed the “King of Valentine’s Day.”

This year, Lonnie took his Valentine’s Day devotion to a very fitting place. In Loving, New Mexico, he worked with the mayor to get a road named in his honor of his wife, Anne.

That’s not all.

“On behalf of the village of Loving, me as your mayor, I want to present Anne with the key to the village,” the mayor said.

The gift wasn’t just about Anne. The village honored Frank and Nickey Chacon, and Pablo and Maria Hernandez, who each celebrated 65 years of marriage.

In the past, Lonnie has done a crop circle, a 100-pound piñata and an art exhibit with a collection of the Valentines throughout the last couple of decades. Hope springs eternal for him.

“If every single person out there who saw this tonight made something about love, put it in the universe, put in the world, gave it to their neighbors, put it in their communities. I mean, how beautiful would that be?” he said.
