APS board approves contract extension for superintendent
The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education signed off on an extension of the superintendent's contract.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Public Schools Superintendent Gabriella Duran Blakey will stay in her current position until at least 2028.
The APS Board of Education unanimously approved a two-year extension of her contract Wednesday night.
Blakey started in the role on July 1, 2024, and was up for a review this month. Before becoming superintendent, she had worked for the school district for more than twenty years. She previously served as chief operations officer and in other administrative roles.
