Flash flood warnings issued for some New Mexico burn scars

MORA COUNTY, N.M. – A flash flood warning was issued Saturday by the National Weather Service for the Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak Fire burn scar, including the City of Mora.
In southern New Mexico, a flash flooding warning is in effect for the Cerro Pelado Fire burn scar until 11 p.m. Saturday.
State Highway 94 in between Sapello and Mora was closed due to water across the roadway, according to the National Weather Service.
Scattered showers and storms are expected to continue across the state Saturday afternoon and evening.
There’s also been reports of flooding in the Pecos area, with viewer video showing water rushing down the side of a hill.
On Friday, evacuations were recommended for the Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak burn scar.
