Lobos wrap: Fans invited to welcome Pitino to NM; Matos enters transfer portal

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- One day after UNM announced Richard Pitino as the new men’s basketball coach, Baryon Matos said he will enter the transfer portal.
Matos isn’t closing the door on leaving UNM, but he said he wants to explore his options.
He averaged six points and four rebounds per game. He has three years left of eligibility.
Meanwhile, Pitino will host a press conference at noon Thursday. It will be held at University Stadium so fans can welcome the former Minnesota head coach to New Mexico.
