Nevada holds off UNM, eliminates Lobos in Vegas

LAS VEGAS — A late rally fell short for UNM men’s basketball in the Mountain West quarterfinals.
Nevada pulled away to win 79-72 led by Grant Sheffield’s 27 points who also had 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
Four Lobos scored in double figures. Jaelen House dealt with foul trouble in the second half, but managed to lead the way 19 points.
Jamal Mashburn Jr. had 15, Javonte Johnson 14, and KJ Jenkins fouled out with 11 points.
Richard Pitino’s first season at UNM ends with an overall record of 13-19.
