Sandia pitcher signs with Oregon State

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Sandia Matadors pitcher Jacob Kamtz is the best pitcher in the state, and is one of the reasons why Sandia has yet to lose.

The Matadors are currently 12-0 on the season.

Kamtz has already signed with the Oregon State Beavers, but the Major League Baseball draft is set for July 11-July 13. However, Kamtz said he’s just trying to focus on the present.

"Any second can be taken away by a COVID case for something, so it’s just about going day-by-day enjoying the practices, enjoy being around each other, not looking too far ahead and just being in the moment playing as hard as you can in that moment. Not worrying about two games from now or anything like that," he said.
