Oakmont Fire: Evacuation orders lifted for Timberon
Evacuations have been lifted in Timberon after a wildfire started in the Lincoln National Forest. The fire is 30% contained and is 65 acres.
TIMBERON, N.M. — Evacuations have been lifted in Timberon after a wildfire started in the Lincoln National Forest. The fire is 30% contained and is 65 acres.
On Saturday, officials say crews worked overnight to patrol the fire’s edges and the fire’s behavior is decreasing.
Multiple agencies are on scene and Smokey Bear Hotshots and Sacramento Hot Shots are also assisting. They do not expect full containment until at least Monday.
Otero County has opened its fairgrounds for animals and livestock.
No primary structures have been lost, but some outbuildings have suffered damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
