Albuquerque flower shop helps love blossom during Valentine’s Day
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – If you want to know who worked the hardest on Valentine’s Day, it just might be everyone getting flowers arranged and delivered.
That is certainly the case at Albuquerque Florist. It was nonstop all day long with people getting flowers for their special someone.
“It is a special day for a lot of people, celebrating their love for one another. It is beautiful,” said Perma Saavedra.
Everyone has their reason to show that special someone they care.
“Just to show her I love her for Valentine’s Day,” said Jerry Trujillo.
“She is great, she is a great person to me, she treats me well. She has been supportive and has been amazing. Words can’t describe how happy I am,” said Marcus Martinez.
To get all of these flowers ready for the big day, the preparation started nearly a week ago.
“Prep Sunday. We all come in, and we start prepping everything,” said Sofia Lucero with Albuquerque Florist.
Lucero says they have delivered more than 1,000 flowers so far, not including the hundreds of walk-ins. To get ready for their busiest day of the year, it has been all hands on deck.
“It goes really, really fast. Even though we are here for 12 hours, it goes by,” said Lucero.
The National Retail Federation says people will spend a record $27.5 billion on Valentine’s Day this year. The second-most popular gift being flowers behind candy.
Lucero says the hard work is worth it to help people feel the love.
“All the special little messages for everyone. Those are nice to read, we like to read the messages because it brightens our day,” said Lucero.
