Sandia Peak Tram reopens with high-tech upgrades
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After closing for two months to make some high-tech upgrades, the Sandia Peak Tram is officially back open.
The Tram officially reopened at 9 a.m. Thursday. To celebrate the day, they had a ribbon cutting, tours, a Little Bear Coffee pop-up shop and live music.
What’s new? There are upgrades to the drive and control systems. Plus, there is new weather technology on the two new towers.
That means better reliability and safety, especially during severe weather – and a smoother, slightly faster ride if you go.
Operators can also control the ride from inside, rather than just at the base.
The Tram is in full operation with rides running every 15-20 minutes. You can purchase tickets here.
The TEN 3 restaurant will reopen Friday.
