ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A 19-year-old man was arrested Thursday for the alleged murder of a 30-year-old at a downtown bar earlier this year.
Isaac Martinez, 19, was arrested and charged an open count of murder. He is accused of murdering Jonathan Garza, 30, Feb. 19, at Canvas Artistry at One Central Avenue.
Garza, a well-known fitness trainer, was reportedly defending his brother as he tried to break up a fight at Canvas Artistry when he was shot multiple times.
Witnesses at the scene gave a description of the shooter, which police used – along with social media, surveillance video and cell phone data – to positively identify Martinez and track him down.
Martinez will be booked into Metropolitan Detention Center.
