ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Newly-released body camera video shows the moment Bernalillo County deputies arrested a man for allegedly killing another man at the La Luz trailhead last month.
Police said Ryan Spencer was found fatally stabbed next to a car as two women tried to save his life.
Deputies arrested the suspect, 29-year-old Marty Platero, nearby. He was shirtless and covered in blood.
“I didn’t do nothing. The dude pulled a big old knife on me and we started fighting, and he like, fell.”
The two women told investigators they were drinking with Platero and the victim near the trailhead – when the two men started fighting.
According to court documents, Platero later admitted the knife belonged to him, but said he blacked out after getting hit in the head and didn’t remember using the knife.
Platero is now in jail, facing a murder charge.
