ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A female pedestrian was killed overnight after she was struck by a black truck that fled the scene.
A witness told Albuquerque police the woman was walking south across Central Avenue – near Charleston St. SE, just east of Central and Louisiana – when a black truck, traveling in the middle lane on westbound Central, crashed into her.
The pedestrian succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The witness said she believed the truck was going over the speed limit when the crash happened and stated the truck fled afterward. No further details were provided.
APD did not confirm if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash. They did determine the pedestrian was not using the crosswalk.
