ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – An Albuquerque mother will spend the next decade behind bars for abusing her young son. 

A judge sentenced Natalie Saiz Thursday. Police responded to her home in 2023 after a call about a child who was severely hurt. 

When officers got on scene, they found Saiz’s 5-year-old son with bruises all over his body and his eyes swollen shut. 

She pleaded guilty to abandonment of a child, abuse of a child, and bribery. Saiz’s boyfriend, Phillip Valencia, is also spending 10 years behind bars. 

A judge made that decision back in December.
