APD investigating overnight shooting as justified homicide
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque detectives are investigating an overnight shooting as a justifiable homicide.
Around 10 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the Union 505 Apartments in response to a shooting. Police said one man was found dead near an apartment, and another individual was detained.
“Upon speaking with officers, the male detained told police he was charged at by his neighbor and shot him as a result,” APD spokesperson Rebecca Atkins said in a release. “The male also told officers that he had issues with the deceased neighbor in the past.”
Detectives are working with the district attorney’s office to investigate the claim that the shooting was in self defense.
