Albuquerque Sunport to launch nonstop flights to Washington, DC area

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Our nation’s capitol will now be just a nonstop flight away from Albuquerque by the time summer rolls around.

United Airlines on May 22 will launch nonstop flights between the Albuquerque International Sunport and Dulles International Airport in the Washington, D.C. area. It’ll be the Sunport’s 32nd nonstop destination.

Local leaders are touting the nonstop flight as a step forward for connecting New Mexico to the political heart of the U.S.

“Direct access to Washington, D.C., means more opportunities for Burqueños, whether it’s advocating for New Mexico, expanding business connections, or simply exploring one of the most historic cities in the country,” Mayor Tim Keller said. “Bringing this route back is a win for travelers, a boost for our local economy, and a testament to Albuquerque’s growing influence as a key destination.”

Each flight will offer 126 seats. Flights from Washington, D.C., will arrive in Albuquerque at 11:05 a.m. Meanwhile, Flights from Albuquerque at 3 p.m. will arrive in Washington, D.C., at 8:45 p.m.

The Sunport also has flights going to Baltimore/Washington International Airport, via Southwest Airlines.
