APD investigates deadly shooting in SE Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police are investigating a deadly shooting in the International District Tuesday. 

The shooting happened near a home at Central and Rhode Island. Police say one person was found dead with a gunshot wound.

Detectives investigated and said the victim and his friends went to buy drugs at the American Inn and Suites on Central, just east of Louisiana. They said the victim got into a fight with the dealer. Then, the dealer’s friend – 65-year-old Juan Gonzalez – intervened and the fight ended.

However, investigators say Gonzalez followed the victim and his friends to the home. Gonzalez is accused of shooting and killing the man there.
