APD: Third suspect arrested for downtown homicide
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police arrested a third suspect for the alleged murder of a 30-year-old fitness trainer near a downtown bar last year.
Albuquerque police arrested Armando Martinez this week for the murder of 30-year-old Jonathan Garza. It happened outside of Canvas Artistry last February.
Garza, a well-known fitness trainer, was reportedly defending his brother as he tried breaking up a fight at Canvas. After the fight, someone allegedly shot him several times.
Witnesses described the shooter to police, leading to the three arrests so far in the case.
APD previously arrested Isaac Martinez and Alejandro Barton and charged them with the alleged murder.
23-year-old Armando Martinez is in the Metropolitan Detention Center facing an open count of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
