Balloon Fiesta announces 2022 Special Shapes lineup

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — 118 special shape balloons, representing 11 countries, will be featured throughout the 50th Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, coming October 1-9.

Fiesta officials announced Tuesday that beloved favorites such as Airabelle the Creamland Cow of Canada, Darth Vader and Pigasus will all be among the 118 special shape balloons.

Also among the 118 are 19 shapes making their Balloon Fiesta debut. The 19 shapes are from seven different countries:

Brazil: A Bruxa, Flying Bus, Flying Saucer, Mandrill, Steggy, Teddy and Lindy, Toy Car

United States: Daz, Party, Squeak, Xfinity

United Kingdom: Alien, Master Zaba, Scarlett

Germany: Alfred the Carpenter, Wera Screw Driver

Australia: Tiger

The Netherlands: Mister Globie

Taiwan: Bravo Bear

Balloon Fiesta runs October 1-9. The special shape balloons will get to take center stage Thursday and Friday, October 6 and 7, during the morning Special Shape Rodeo and evening Glowdeo on the 6th and 7th.
