Balloon Fiesta unveils 2023 Special Shape balloons

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — This year’s Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta kicks off in about a month so organizers unveiled 12 new Special Shape balloons.

Over the years, Special Shape balloons have drawn people to the Balloon Fiesta. Some interesting balloons have ascended over the Albuquerque metro, including Wera Screw Driver from Germany, the Flying Bus from Brazil and Puddles the Penguin from Alaska last year.

This year, Brazil’s Seabed will take the sea to the sky, alongside Bella the Bulldog from the U.K. and Milkyway the blue-eyed cow from Oklahoma.

Balloon Fiesta is October 7-15. The Special Shapes will take center stage Thursday, October 12, for the Special Shape Rodeo.
