BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. — Bernalillo County has a new way for the public to sign up for emergency notifications.
The county is rolling out the Everbridge emergency notification system that can send alerts via text, email, or even a landline call.
“We are very excited to roll this out, because in a disaster, seconds matter. The sooner we can get the information out to the public so they can act, the better,” said Thomas Walmsley, Emergency Management director for the county.
Those who wish to receive alerts from Everbridge can text BernCounty or Bernalillo to 888777 to automatically enroll the phone in the system. An automated response text will provide a link to add more contact information.
Alerts could include messages about severe weather, fire danger, road closures, and more.
Residents who previously signed up to receive emergency alerts from Nixle should automatically receive alerts from Everbridge because contact information from Nixle has been imported to Everbridge.
