ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Big Brothers Big Sisters is reaching out to the community to pair boys and girls across New Mexico with mentors and to support their cause.
“Nationwide we’re seeing a shortage of bigs and we definitely need bigs to impact kids’ lives through one-to-one mentoring so kids are reaching their greatest potential,” said Bianca Delgado, the director of events & engagement in the Mountain region of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Adult volunteers get paired with a kid between the ages of 6 to 18 with the goal of creating a positive relationship that has a direct and long-lasting impact on the kid. Together, they set up fun activities and programs to foster that growth and they’re in need of support to bolster their efforts.
Several events will be hosted – including a golf tournament – to bolster their efforts and support families over the next several weeks.
