Blue 2 Fire almost fully contained near Ruidoso

RUIDOSO, N.M. — Fire officials at a community meeting Thursday night shared the progress they’ve been making on the Blue 2 Fire near Ruidoso.

Officials revealed the eastern and northern sides of the fire are now contained. The fire, as a whole is now around 87% contained.

The fire has stalled at 7,532 acres. That’s thanks to the work of 142 personnel working on one crew, three engines, a water tender and five masticators.

Crews are now preparing for post-fire recovery.
