City of Rio Rancho begins construction project along Broadmoor Boulevard
RIO RANCHO, N.M. – The City of Rio Rancho started construction on a nearly $8.5 million project last week along Broadmoor Boulevard.
“This is a major construction project we’ve been looking forward to for a long time and this is the Broadmoor Mill & Inlay project which is going to include a reconstruction of the road surface and a new waterline all the way down the street as well,” said Gregg Hull, the mayor of Rio Rancho.
Construction is expected to run until January 2026. Mayor Hull said they’ve had several issues with the waterline – and it’s time for an upgrade.
“In this particular case we had to shut down Broadmoor complete at one time to get this pipe replaced so it takes a lot,” the mayor said.
While these projects can cause bottlenecks at times, the mayor said it’s a necessary project to make sure they don’t have more problems down the road.
“They all cause a little trouble right; progress is never easy, and progress tends to be disruptive but once we are done, we are seeing the benefit of that investment. We can see the benefit of the investments that we are making and how it improves quality of life of individuals I think it is just a great thing to get these projects done,” he said.
Unser and Rockaway are alternate routes during construction, but the city doesn’t anticipate having to close Broadmoor at all.
“We are asking people to just please plan accordingly, take your time, go slow right and be cognizant of the others around you,” the mayor said.
