ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After a few days of rain and storm chances, things are set to get hot and dry again.
Temperatures will reach the upper-90s and triple-digits throughout the state this weekend, except in a few places that will see high-80s. Heat advisories are already posted in southern New Mexico where some places may see highs nearing 110 degrees.
It is by far the hottest conditions we have seen so far this year so be sure to stay hydrated, stay cool and check up on elderly and vulnerable neighbors.
If you’re going anywhere, make sure you don’t leave kids or animals in the car as doing so, for even a short period of time, can be a fatal decision – as a car’s interior temperature can rise by 20 degrees in just 10 minutes and 40 degrees in an hour on hot days.
