Lobo football coach Pays It 4ward to fellow Valley High School alum

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – In this week’s Pay It 4ward, Lobo football Coach Danny Gonzales shows us his old stomping grounds while recognizing an outstanding member of his alma mater’s community. 

Inside Valley High School, you’ll find the Viking closet, a place where students and their families can get help. 10 years ago, Tillie Velasquez created this little sanctuary.

“We have school supplies, we have food, we have prom dresses, homecoming dresses anything any kid needs,” said Velasquez. 

Gonzales is a proud Valley High Alum, he’s known Velasquez since he was a child.

“Unbelievable I mean the idea first off to be able to help the less fortunate and just make things better for people, and the unselfish willingness to help, a big heart is awesome, and I grew up with Tillie and it doesn’t surprise me I mean it’s been who she is for a whole life so it is an awesome deal,” said Gonzales.
