ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Typically, coffee doesn’t mix well with your clothes but a clothing donation will get you a discount at one local coffee shop chain.
New Mexico Piñon Coffee House is partnering with the Locker #505 clothing bank to support its mission of allowing in-need students to pick out their school clothes at no cost to them. With the school year beginning, the need is growing.
“We are extremely busy. We have received over a thousand referrals and are seeing around 30 students a day,” said Kim Kerschen, the executive director of the Locker #505.
Locker #505 relies on people donating their clothes and shoes to meet their demands and New Mexico Piñon Coffee House is running a promotion to ensure that need is met – and folks get a little treat.
The local coffee chain is collecting donations at all three of its Albuquerque-area locations and, if you bring your donations in, you can get 10% off your entire order. This applies to drinks, food and merchandise. If you make a social media post about it with Locker #505 and NM Piñon Coffee tagged, you can get 25% off your order.
All donations are appreciated but Locker #505 is looking for items such as leggings, hoodies and sweatpants in a range of sizes. To view the full list of items in need, visit their website.
