ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Mitch Garver, a former Lobo and former La Cueva Bear, is expected to be at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque for a rehab assignment Tuesday.
The La Cueva grad is expected to play with the Round Rocket Express, starting Tuesday against the Isotopes.
Garver is a catcher for the Texas Rangers. However, he hasn’t played for them since last July.
At that time, Garver suffered a torn flexor tendon and missed the rest of the season. Then, last month, the Rangers ruled Garver out with a sprained left knee.
In 2009, he began with UNM and earned Mountain West Co-Player of the Year honors in 2012 and 2013.
The Minnesota Twins drafted Garver in the 2013 MLB Draft. Then, he spent a few seasons in the minor leagues and five seasons with the Twins before he was traded to the Rangers last year.
