Mother charged in baby’s death changes plea to guilty

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A Valencia County mom accused of killing her baby changed her plea to guilty Thursday.
Kiria Milton is charged with child abuse resulting in death. Valencia County deputies arrested her in 2021 at her El Cerro Mission home. They found her one-month-old baby boy dead with signs of blunt force trauma.
That arrest came just a week after she called deputies for help – saying she was afraid of what she might do to her children.
Milton faces life in prison. Her sentencing hearing is expected to happen in a few months.
