ESPAÑOLA, N.M. – Firefighters in northern New Mexico got some real-world training by destroying a house scheduled to be torn down.
The City of Española recently purchased the property for a new fire station. With demolition plans underway, fire crews suggested using the house for a training exercise.
Several new firefighters got a chance to smash through every inch of the house, from the walls to the roof.
The fire station is being funded with Capitol Outlay Funds.
Construction is expected to begin in October.
