NMSP: 3 injured following Roswell school bus crash
ROSWELL, N.M. — New Mexico State Police officers were called to a crash involving a school bus around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning near U.S. 285 and Darby Road.
Police say the bus belonged to the Roswell Independent School District and about 34 students were on board.
According to police, it appears that the school bus was traveling east on Darby Road, stopped at an intersection, and then turned onto U.S. 285. When the bus turned, it turned into the path of a pickup truck.
The 56-year-old woman who was driving the pickup truck and a 4-year-old child were taken to an area hospital following the crash, with non-life-threatening injuries.
One student that was on the bus was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the school bus was issued a citation. The crash is still under investigation.
