NMSP investigates deadly police shooting in Gallup

GALLUP, N.M. – New Mexico State Police say Gallup officers shot and killed a man who was reportedly shooting a gun and pointing it at himself in a residential neighborhood. 

The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon near Zecca Drive and Mark Avenue.

Police say when they got there, they found 34-year-old Frankie Davis armed with a shotgun. this is video sent to us by a viewer.

Investigators say officers tried to de-escalate the situation. At some point, Davis allegedly pointed the gun at officers and officers fired, hitting Davis at least once. 

Police say officers tried to save Davis, however he was taken to the hospital where he died.
