NMSP officer resigns after DWI arrest in Gallup

GALLUP, N.M. — New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler confirmed an officer resigned after being placed on leave for a DWI arrest in Gallup.

Last Thursday, Feb. 27, McKinley County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Rachel Hall on drunk driving charges. NMSP confirmed to KOB 4 the next day that they placed her on leave.

Weisler said he was “extremely disappointed” to learn about the arrest. He said Hall “chose to resign before an internal investigation could be completed.”

“I remain committed to holding all my officers accountable for their actions. Her conduct does not reflect the values and integrity that define a New Mexico State Police officer, and I am deeply troubled by her conduct and this breach of public trust. The actions of Officer Hall betray the professionalism and dedication shown by members of our agency daily,” Weisler said in a statement issued Thursday.

Hall is accused of nearly hitting another vehicle and a light pole. Law enforcement officers caught up to her and allegedly had to pull her from her vehicle to arrest her.

According to NMSP, Hall was with them for four years and eight months.
