Paraglider killed in crash west of Albuquerque

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. — A 67-year-old Albuquerque man was killed in a paraglider crash Saturday near Route 66 Casino.
New Mexico State Police were called around 10 a.m. Saturday about a downed aircraft in an open field north of the Route 66 Casino on I-40.
Officers found Carl Apodaca was piloting his paraglider in the area when it crashed for unknown reasons. Apodaca was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under NMSP investigation. Alcohol isn’t believed to be a factor in the crash.
