RIO RANCHO, N.M. – Volunteers are the heart and soul of so many organizations. But sometimes there’s one who makes you question how the whole place could run without them.
Tonight’s Pay It 4ward helps a woman who goes above and beyond – all out of love for her Rio Rancho community.
“She’s the volunteer that puts the extra into it. She’s the one that gets everything going for our kids, for the volunteers, for the other members,” said Carol Salvagio, a Pay It 4ward nominator.
Salvagio is a volunteer herself, but she admits she can’t hold a candle to Jennifer Moran.
“I sometimes wonder if she sleeps at night. Seriously, we love her to death, and she’s the best volunteer I’ve ever seen in my life,” said Salvagio.
Moran has been volunteering at the Elks Lodge for 13 years. She’s currently the club manager, and leads youth activities like its Backpack program, that benefits about 300 children a year.
She also has a hand in other regular programming for seniors and veterans.
“She doesn’t wait for things to happen. She gets it done,” Salvagio said. “She deserves a good surprise.”
So, it was time to Pay It 4ward with $400.
