PNM offers $250K to customers with high electric bills

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Even with the sticker shock of PNM bills fueled by scorching summer temperatures, there are ways you can save each month beyond those expected credits.

Customers KOB 4 spoke with say they spent the most they ever have this past month – some even paying double what they normally pay.

Officials with PNM say the ongoing use of air conditioners and swamp coolers is driving up the demand for electricity, especially after a record-hot July.

Customers with high bills can apply for assistance from the PNM Summer Heat Bill Help Fund. This is on top of the Good Neighbor Fund, which the company has always provided.

If you don’t meet the income requirements for those programs, you can also apply for a free program called Budget Billing.
