Police find gun on student arrested at Carlsbad High School

CARLSBAD, N.M. — Police say they found a gun on a student they arrested Thursday at Carlsbad High School on an outstanding warrant.

School resource officers with the Carlsbad Police Department worked with school staff to detain a student on an outstanding arrest warrant around 9:20 a.m. Thursday. While arresting the student, officers said they found a firearm on him.

According to Carlsbad PD, firearm possession charges are pending. The investigation is still ongoing but there are “no known additional threats.”
